Sample imageAnagarika Dharmapala was one of the greatest Budhist missionaries in sri lanka. He was also a great patriot who loved his country and sinhala nation. Hence he and his service in the course of Buddhism and nation are unsurpassed by anyone during the last 7 decades.

Anagarika Dharmapala was with a strong view in founding a school for Buddhist girls which was the utmost need at the time to the dictates of foriegn rule. He initiated it by donating one of his residences at Maligakanda Road, Then Mr.P.De S. Kularathne, the principle of Ananda College at that time, founded Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo - 10 in 1925.Under the guidance of our great patriot.

Today Ananda Balika Vidyalaya reaches its 85 years of invaluable service of producing educated and disciplined young girls to mother Lanka, being merge ring to remain an embodiment of the founder's hopes and aspirations.

Victor House, where our noble son lived is still majestically remaining in the school premises. Once it had been a shelter for most of our scholars who came from outstations.

However the school now has taken steps to preserve this remarkable monument as a museum for future generation. The school plans to commorate the 2500th Sambuddathwa Jayanthi by opening the museum. It will be also functioned as an Information centre of our Outstanding National hero. Those who thirst of finding information about Anagarika Dharmapala could quench their thirst by visiting this precious place. For instance his personal information the stupendous service he has done to the religion, nation and to the education, his foreign missionary service photograph of his historical events and books published by him & about himself etc.
